Barbara beams as senior singles champ

IN the Amanzimtoti Bowling Club women’s senior singles, Marion Crouch defeated Mardi Dovale; Denise Bingham beat Pam Chalder-Royle; and Val de Kok beat Jennifer Greenslade.

In the semi-finals Barbara Beamson defeated Marion Crouch, and Val de Kok beat Denise Bingham.

In the final, Barbara defeated Val. Congratulations to Barbara on becoming senior singles champion, and to Val as runner-up.

In the men’s drawn 2-4-2, Glen Scorgie and Gert Richter came first, with Gerald Chalder-Royle and Cliffie Hole runners-up. Rob McDuling and Dave Kemp came third. The first session was won by John Mitchley and Neil Wiggil and the second session by Ian Crouch and Kokkie de Kock.

In the men’s scroungers, the winner was Ian Crouch, and Lofty van Tonder came second. Third was Owen Turner. Alec Stirzaker won plate A and Rob McDuling won plate B.

At TGIF, the meat was won by Lee Jordan, and the wine by Michael Rose and Doug Joubert. Scorgie won the 100 board. Maureen Warrior, tab 35, was not present for the attendance draw, so the next draw will be R200. There is no TGIF on Friday, 9 August owing to the public holiday, so the next draw is on Friday, 16 August.

In the men’s league, the results were: First division: Toti A, 5/2; second division. Toti B, 1/6; third division. Toti C, 0/7; fifth division. Toti D, 0/5; sixth division, Toti E, 3/2 and Toti F,1/4; and eighth division. Toti G, 0/5.

The men’s handicap singles got underway on Sunday. Innocent Sithole beat Neil Oberholzer, Glen Scorgie beat Mike Dovale, Alec Stirzaker defeated Doug Joubert, Guelfo Cobianchi beat Mickey Roche and Neil Wiggil beat Mike Pitchers. In the next round, Alan McGregor defeated Innocent Sithole, Alec Stirzaker beat Glen Scorgie, Guelfo Cobianchi beat Neil Wiggil, Ian Crouch defeated Boet Els, Sean Sutherland beat Bobby Henderson, Gustav Somers defeated Gerald Chalder-Royle, Denis Roelofsz beat Ben Venter, Mike Roberts overcame William Sithole, Trevor Dempsey beat Jeff van Belkum, Clive Frank beat Robbie Roberts, Carl van Heerden defeated Adie Fuller, Hennie van der Poel beat Lofty van Tonder, Chris Whitlock beat Tony Darley, Greg McLeod beat Bill Williams, Colin Coetzee defeated Keith Berry, and Andy Walker beat Alf Bingham. In the following round Alec Stirzaker beat Alan McGregor, Ian Crouch defeated Guelfo Cobianchi, Gustav Somers beat Sean Sutherland, Mike Roberts overcame Denis Roelofsz, Clive Frank beat Trevor Dempsey, Carl van Heerden beat Hennie van der Poel, Greg McLeod defeated Chris Whitlock, and Colin Coetzee beat Andy Walker.
