Car guard’s quick thinking saves the day

AN ARMED robbery was thwarted by a quick-thinking car guard at Kingsburgh Centre at about 9.30am on Thursday, 8 August.

Two men armed with a gun attempted to rob the owner of a clothing store as he made his way to his vehicle with the store’s takings. “I saw a man grab him and I started screaming,” said car guard, Maureen Rolling. “All the money was on the floor and two other men ran to help.”

The robber’s accomplice fired a shot at the men and then pointed the gun towards Maureen and fired a second shot.

“The two men then fled to a waiting bakkie and escaped. However, they got away with nothing,” said Maureen.
