Woman, child hurt in weekend crashes
A YOUNG boy and a woman were seriously injured in two separate accidents at the weekend.
On Saturday 10 August about 10.45am, an eight-year-old boy was hit by a car on the southbound lane of the N2 near the Ultra City in Umgababa.
“Reports indicate the boy was trying to cross the busy highway when he landed in front of a vehicle on the southbound lane. Netcare 911 paramedics found the critically injured boy lying in the centre median. Paramedics immobilised the child on a trauma board and after he was placed on a ventilator and stabilised, they transported him to an area hospital,” said Netcare 911’s Chris Botha.
On Sunday afternoon, 11 August a woman biker was seriously injured after she collided into the side of a car on the R603 Umbumbulu Road.
“Paramedic found the woman lying on the road. After she was stabilised, she was taken to hospital.”
The cause of the accidents are subject to police investigation.
