Be vigilant when withdrawing money from ATM
We have opened up a case of fraud and are waiting for the outcome of the investigation.
EDITOR – This story is to make bank clients vigilant when withdrawing money from the Standard Bank ATM at the spar in Kingsburgh.
Saturday, 17 August my partner went to withdraw money from the Standard Bank ATM. Three well-spoken and dressed individuals were standing close by, one at the Nedbank machine, one at the Standard Bank machine and one behind him. They stole our bank card and withdrew R5,000 within minutes.
We have opened up a case of fraud and are waiting for the outcome of the investigation. We have also reported the “faulty” ATM machine.
This happened so quickly; and still to this day can only assume that they must have used a “device”, and the fact that the machine shows your pin when entering it doesn’t help.
We have addressed this with the owner of the complex, but he refused to take it any further.
I want everyone to know that this syndicate runs throughout KZN, and to keep a look-out for 3 sometimes 4 individuals who are well presented, mannered and spoken. If the machine seems a bit dodgy, rather walk away.
