PRO gives business forum a new push

ONE of the goals of newly-appointed PRO of Durban South Business Forum (DSBF), Carine Rix is to double the organisation's membership in a year's time.

Carine took up her appointment at the beginning of September and is rearing to go to market the DSBF. “I have set-up a Facebook page and am in the process of setting up a website, which will be up and running in two weeks,” said Carine.

Plans are also in the pipeline to link members’ business websites via the DBSF website. As a member, one has the opportunity to network and listen to interesting speakers every month. Last month’s speaker spoke on the UIF. At the next meeting on Monday, 30 September at 7pm at Lords and Legends, Dr Henry Eagleton will talk on business ethics. “If anyone is interested in attending as a guest, they are welcome to contact me.”

Carine comes from a Human Resources background and worked for the same company in Bloemfontein and Johannesburg for 10 years. She moved to Toti several years ago, after her husband, Riaan took up a new post after a transfer. Both her children, Rogan and Christian attend local schools.

Carine lists photography as her passion. She is a professional wedding photographer, having being inspired by her dad, who is also in the business.

The DSBF has opened offices at Barkers House, 5 Straplane (Kingsway) Amanzimtoti and can be contacted on 083-440-3537. The DSBF has expanded, is affiliated with the AHI and focus areas are tourism, local economic development and entrepreneurial skills.
