Hip-hop festival to bring KwaMakhutha to life
KwaMakhutha will resound with the sounds of hip-hop and kwaito when the second KwaMakutha Hip-Hop Festival takes place on 15 December.

“This year is set to be the biggest yet,” said organiser, Siyabonga Ntlola. “Shoreline Beverages has come on board as a sponsor and we have received support from KFC Galleria, and prizes from Galleria. The Department of Arts and Culture has also pledged its support.”
“We want to get the local councillors involved in the next event. The event will be split into two. In the daytime we will an event for the youth under 21, with hip-hop, dance and poetry where no alcohol will be allowed. In the evening we will have DJs playing house and kwaito, and a fashion show showcasing the local designers, with alcohol on sale. We are still looking for more designers to participate.
“We would like to thank Sapphire Coast Toti Tourism for all its assistance,” said Siyabonga, who said they are in the process of registering the non-governmental organisation. The organisation was set up to help the youth in the township. One way the organisation will offer free development is with piano lessons. “Piano teacher, Simiso Gudazi of KwaMakhutha is available to teach the youth piano for free from Monday to Saturday. Contact him on 074-790-4152 or 083-313-4152.”
