Umkomaas golfer, Ganas Naicker finished sixth out of 25 players in his category at the world amatuer champs.

He played for South Africa’s B side and helped his team finish in third place, while South Africa A side won the competition.

“It was very tough conditions and competitions, but I was extremely pleased where we finished,” said Ganas.

On Tuesday, 29 October he finished the day on a 93 gross 93 and 77 nett at Durban Country Club. At Cotswold Downs on Wednesday, 30 October he also scored a 93 gross and a 76 nett. In his third match at Umhlali the next day, he recorded an 89 gross and 72 nett and followed that up with a 98 gross and 81 nett at Prince’s Grant on the last day of the competition. Overall Ganas finished on a nett score of 306 to give him sixth place.

“On the last day at Prince’s Grant, I was too fatigued and just couldn’t hit. Six days of playing golf was too much to handle, but I was extremely proud to be a member of Team SA.”
