Death of Jamie Main Baillie

Jamie Main Baillie, son of renowned Warner Beach DJ and MC, Rob Main Baillie died in the early hours of Sunday morning after suffering an asthma attack while camping at Tugela mouth.

Jamie (34) was born in Ladysmith, but did his schooling in Ixopo and Scottburgh. He was well-known in local circles for DJing and MCing events on Scottburgh beach in his younger days.

Jamie travelled extensively in Israel and the UK, before settling in Durban, where he started working alongside Rob at high-profile events such as Durban Ocean Action and the annual Royal Show in Pietermaritzburg. He was also involved in lots of charity work and feeding the homeless through his church, Lady of Fatima in Durban North.

He was married to Volenti in 2010 and was enjoying success as an estate agent in the Umhlanga area.

“Jamie had such a zest for life, we couldn’t keep up with his energy,” said Rob. “He loved his motorbikes, fast cars and music.”

Jamie’s funeral is on Friday, 22 November at Lady of Fatima in Durban North, followed by a wake at Royal Natal Yacht Club at 5pm.
