Thumbs up from holidaymakers

Holidaymakers left Toti feeling satisfied with their choice of holiday destination this festive season.

That’s the feeling from Sapphire Coast Toti Tourism (SCTT) chairman, Jacques van Schalkwyk.

“All accommodation outlets were full, which is a positive for the town,” he said. “There was definitely growth from last year.

Our locker facilities on Toti main beach didn’t do as well as I hoped. We hired out between six and 10 lockers per day, which from a business point of view wasn’t adequate, but it was provided as a service and not to make money. There were some incidents of bag snatching on the beach, which then led to more people using the facility, so we will definitely look at using it again in the April holidays.”

According to Jacques, beach activities were well supported by holidaymakers, especially the beach entertainment and music by 7de Laan actors on Tuesday, 24 December on Toti main beach.

“We will be looking at providing this type of entertainment with big names in the future, as it seems to be what the public appreciates.”

SCTT also handed out surveys to be filled in by holidaymakers, to determine their needs for future events.

“Petty crime was down from last year, possibly because of the extra security on the beach. Holidaymakers seem to have had a good time and restuarants have reported a good turnover during the festive season as well.”
