Considerate tap thieves turn water off before theft

THIEVES targeting homes to steal tap fittings are doing the rounds in the Athol Paton and Lewis Drive areas.

Two incidents have occurred in the last few days.

On Friday, 10 January a resident at the corner of Athol Paton Road and Lewis Drive left home at about 9am and returned at about noon to find four garden taps had been stolen.

The thief had kindly turned off the water before removing the taps. A suspicious-looking man had been seen walking along the fence, but the resident is uncertain whether the man was involved.

The second incident occurred on Monday night, 13 January, when copper pipes and taps were stolen from a property under renovation.

The resident warns the community to be alert.
