Arrests made for hijacking

FOUR men have been arrested in connection with the hijacking and shooting of a 57-year-old man in Warner Beach on 6 November at about 8pm.

A joint operation by Durban Flying Squad, Umlazi K9 Unit and Brighton Beach Field Unit led to the arrest of four alleged hijackers and two alleged murder suspects in Umlazi on Tuesday, 21 January.

Terry Lovegrove was shot outside his sister’s house in Smythe Road at about 7.40pm in November. He sustained gunshot wounds to his chest and abdomen. His VW Polo was recovered a week after the hijacking.

Since the ordeal, Terry is slowly recovering. “Terry is doing much better. He is alive and well but he will never be the same again. He’s just started walking again,” said Helen Lovegrove.
