CCPO net bags two thieves

Two robbers were arrested by the Community Crime Prevention Organisation (CCPO) in separate incidents recently.

“On Wednesday, 29 January the CCPO responded to a call in Ilanda Road, Athlone Park,” said operations manager, Leon Joone. “ET Security had confronted housebreakers in a home.”

The thieves fled in different directions, pursued by security officers. Leon arrested one thief in Old Main Road and a cellphone was recovered. The owner positively identified the man as the thief and he was handed over to Toti SAP.

In a separate incident, another housebreaker was arrested by Leon on Tuesday, 4 February at about 10am, after he broke into a May Road house in Athlone Park.

After the thief’s description was forwarded to the CCPO, Leon spotted the man walking towards Isipingo on the railway line. He and other CCPO officers nabbed the thief in Prospecton and numerous stolen items were recovered. Other stolen items were also found packed in a suitcase, which was hidden on the May Road property. The thief was handed over to Toti SAP.
