Election timetable sets dates and deadlines
THE Electoral Commission has published an Election Timetable, in consultation with the National Party Liaison Committee (NPLC) to be used in the 2014 national and provincial elections.

Dates and deadlines have been set for various aspects of the upcoming national and provincial elections including the submission of party candidate lists, objections to candidates, applications for special votes and notifications by overseas voters.
The Election Timetable covers the key legal requirements to be met by voters, political parties and the Electoral Commission over the 70 days leading up to the 7 May elections.
Among the key dates set by the Election Timetable are the following:
25 February, 8am:
* Opening of submission of VEC10 notifications by voters who intend to vote outside of South Africa (online at www.elections.org.za).
* Opening of submission of candidate lists and deposits by contesting parties.
12am:
Closing of the voters’ roll for national and provincial election.
12 March, 5pm:
* Deadline for submission of VEC10 notifications
* Deadline for submission of candidate lists and deposits by contesting parties to Election House in Centurion.
1 April, 5pm:
* Deadline for objections to candidate lists.
7 April, 8am:
* Opening date for submission of special votes applications.
17 April, 5pm:
* Deadline for submission of special votes applications.
30 April:
* Casting of votes by overseas voters at SA missions abroad.
5 May, 9am to 5pm:
* Casting of special votes.
6 May, 9am to 5pm:
* Casting of special votes.
7 May, 7am to 9pm:
* Election Day
