SAPPHIRE Coast Pool League results for Wednesday, 26 February:
Nautical Mile A team vs Moulin Rouge D ended in a draw, although the first round was taken by the home team 3-1, the second and third rounds 2-2 each and the fourth round 3-1 to the away team. The doubles games were also split with both teams relieved a draw was better than a loss.
The talented Reef B came close to losing a few points as Warnadoone D played their hearts out, only to see the final black ball left in the pockets at various times and Reef B scooping the point time after time. Johno Coetzee and Nick Odendaal snatched their full houses. The home team won with a glorious 15-3 score.
Debz Koekemoer of Reef A scored a great full house against Warnadoone C. Ri Weslley and Riaan Maree both took three of their four games. First and second rounds ended even. Reef A advanced ruthlessly, allowing no more chances and took third and fourth rounds 4-0. Final score 13-5 to Reef A.
Warnadoone A’s Megan Brett did her team proud against Boardroom B, taking a full house and winning her doubles match with partner Tiaan Lombard who, together with Alex Paterson, took three of their matches against the away team. A grand win of 14-4 for the home team.
An even game played out in the early stages of the Silver Dollar C vs Moulin Rouge B team. The third round saw the home team take the third round. Silver Dollar C was pipped at the post when Moulin Rouge B scrambled for the final doubles point, taking the score to a well deserved 10-8 .
The force of Clint Moolman’s full house didn’t help much when the Silver Dollar B and Reef D teams came to blows. The even-tempered home team had crept ahead by the second round and singles final score ahead by four points. The brave comeback by the away team to win their doubles games sadly left the away team losing. Final score 10-8.
Moulin Rouge’s A vs Ollies B was a do-or-die match. Levin Poonan and Pierre Boonzaaier each scored three out of four games. Although the home team took the singles ahead to 9-7, the possibility of at least evening the score for Ollies was there for the taking with the doubles games.
The home team grabbed their half of the doubles matches and walked away with a satisfying 10-8 win.
Ollies A snatched first four points of the match against Warnadoone B, almost as relentless in the second round. The third and fourth round saw the home team fight back, scoring 2-2 in the third and fourth round. The away team rubbed salt in the wounds of the home team by winning both doubles games and scoring a glorious 15-3 win.
Another win for the Ollies club as Ollies D took points from Sapphire Cove A where they could after the first round ended even. Castello Naidoo took no prisoners with his full house and Mark Naidoo grabbed a 3-1 score. The fourth round made the biggest dent when the home team took all their games. Another insult to injury, winning the doubles matches left Ollies D smiling widely with a grand 13-5 win.
