Home teams have advantage in sinking the black
A spectacular full house each for Moulin Rouge’s B team Jonathan Childsmith and Siyabonga Zungu.

SAPPHIRE Coast pool league results for Wednesday, 12 March:
Sapphire Cove A team showed little mercy to their Boardroom A opponents as they plucked points from the away team, scoring three rounds of 3-1 and grabbing the last four points of the fourth round.
Hennie Coetzee and Mark Russel scored glorious full houses, with Dean Keppler taking three of his four games. A convincing set of doubles games left the home team with a grand 15-3 victory.
A spectacular full house each for Moulin Rouge B team’s Jonathan Childsmith and Siyabonga Zungu together with a 3-1 win each for George Gromley and Dave Renwick left the Warnerdoone C team almost crushed. They managed to win only the last two singles matches in the fourth round. A split in the doubles matches gave the away team another point. The final score for another home team, a grand 15-3 victory.
Leading by 7-1 by the end of the second round, Nautical Mile B team squandered points losing 1-3 in the third round to Moulin Rouge D team, but bounced back with a 3-1 win in the fourth round. The home team’s Billy Holm scored a grand full house, with Arthur Stead and Gerrard Wessels each winning three of their four games. With both doubles games being seized by the home team, this win left them chuffed with their 13-5 victory.
After alternating wins the first few games, Reef D’s Barry de Beer turned the tide and Silver Dollar B team never managed to catch up again. Losing all four points of the third round and only managing a draw in the fourth round didn’t help the away team at all. The split points in the doubles and a full house for top player Clint Mooiman, together with Johnny Roets taking three of his four games, aided in the 12-6 victory for the home side.
Sam Gopee, newcomer to Reef D team, was the heroine in the match against Warnerdoone D as she won three of her four games and outshone her team mates. Warnerdoone D led with two points by the third round, but scores were even by the end of the fourth round. The annihilation by the away team in the doubles left Reef D relieved with a 10-8 win.
Although the first round was won by Warnerdoone A against Nautical Mile A team, a four point win for the away team and even scores in the third and fourth rounds left the home team lagging by two points. Gerhard Coetzee and Hercules du Preez each took three of their four games and the even doubles games left the away team happy with a 10-8 win.
Ollies B had little hope of recovering against their Ollies D team as the ninth singles game already had the away team winning the match. Both doubles games were grabbed by the home team. Another one of the ever-so-often full houses of Castello Naidoo, together with Devesh Debipersadh, Kershen Sami and Mark Naidoo who each won three of four their games, brought an absolute walk-away 15-3 win to the away team.
Warnerdoone B’s Kevin Kotze scored a grand full house against the Boardroom B home team. Yolandi Storm took three of her four games for the home team. By the end of the second round the away team looked quite comfortable with a 6-2 lead. The third round’s even game and the fourth round’s 3-1 loss still kept the away team in the lead. Hopes of a win died when the home team took control, and managed at least an even 9-9.

The SA women’s team played a friendly against Bowen Arms in Pinetown on 15 March. Although time ran out and by the end of the fifth round, the match could not be completed, the women were leading. The afternoon was enjoyed with a braai and good company.
