Cameras part of traffic study

Upgrade planned for Adams Road intersection.

Toti motorists expressed concern after they noticed video cameras in and around the CBD.

According to ward 97 councillor, Andre Beetge, these activities form part of a study conducted by the South African National Roads Agency (SANRAL) to plan an upgrade of the Adams Road intersection.

“The current intersection, with its short on- and off-ramps in the southern carriageway, as well as the hairpin off-ramp from the northern lane, is not only inadequate and lacking in terms of current legislation, but the present outlay also does not suffice with the ever-increasing traffic demand,” said Cllr Beetge. “Whether it will, in future, contribute towards the infrastructure associated with a toll gate, is as yet unclear.”
