Under par batting disappoints young ACC 4th cricketers

The award for best batsman went to Roald

ON Sunday, 23 March Amanzimtoti Cricket Club's (ACC) fourth cricket team traveled to Bayview to match up with Phoenix 4.

ACC won the toss and on a very hot and humid day, decided to bat first to try and drain the Phoenix players in the hot sun.

Once again this plan backfired, despite the new batting order of the team, due to a lack of occupying the crease and putting partnerships together. Another setback hit the ACC team as three players had to leave due to unforeseen circumstances. ACC were all out for 74 runs. Score card TP 3; Damian 13; Re-Juan 6; Roald 11 not out; Sheldon 5, Renier 3 David 5; Milo 0 and Pieter 0.

With no great score to defend and only eight players on the park, ACC was with their backs against the wall, but with some good bowling, and at times fielding, ACC kept the Phoenix batsman at bay, but the gaps left by three players short in the field was always against the ACC boys. Phoenix reached the winning target in 16.1 overs, winning by 7 wickets. Bowling figures for ACC: Sheldon 3 overs 1/10; TP 3 overs 0/14, Roald 2 overs 0/21, David 3 overs and 1 maiden 0/11; Renier 3 overs 1/15, Milo 2 overs 1/3; Pieter 0.1 overs 0/4.

The award for best batsman went to Roald, for best bowler Milo and in a split decision, the 'thanks for coming' award went to Re-Juan.
