International award for sight comes into focus for Toti Lions

Toti Lions Club scoops award for sight awareness.

THE Lions Club of Amanzimtoti has earned bragging rights, by scooping an international excellence in effort award for sight preservation, awareness and action.

The award from Lions International was handed to the club at a convention in Howick last week.

Toti Lions was singled out as the outstanding club in the district for dedicated service in providing programmes and assistance to aid people who are blind or have limited vision.

“We have distributed 70 pairs of glasses through the Bright Sight programme over a 12-month period. We also assisted 22 people to get treatment for cataracts. The operations will be completed by the end of June,” said project co-ordinator, Lion Carol Botha.
