It is believed this morning’s horrific car accident was the result of a Bantam Rustler bakkie, travelling southbound, crossing the centre median.
The Rustler hit a Toyota Hilux bakkie, travelling northbound, which came to rest in the fast lane of the southbound carriageway. Both male occupants in the Rustler died. As a result of the collision, the Rustler flew into the air and landed on top of a maroon-coloured Ford Bantam bakkie, in which a woman died. A red car then collided into the back of the Toyota Hilux.
Mop-up operations are still ongoing at the scene, three hours after it happened. According to Netcare 911 spokesman, Chris Botha, the southbound lanes were also closed after the accident. Both carriageways are now re-opened.
