Ward 97 councillor, Andre Beetge nominated the school to do one random act of kindness as part of a social media initiative. Staff and pupils will sponsor biology teachers, Lauren Kendrick and Lisa Ferreira to run the Comrades Marathon to raise funds for the Starfish Greathearts Foundation.
“We held a civvies day where pupils donated a minimum of R5 to dress in the Starfish Foundation’s colours of orange and white,” said school’s marketer, Elaine Woor. “The Interact Club also held a cake sale to raise funds for the charity.” A total of R5,294 was raised.
“More fundraising and sponsorship will happen before the marathon and we hope the public and local businesses also come on board to sponsor Lauren and Lisa.”
To sponsor the runners, visit the Comrades website www.comrades.com, go to the charities drop-down menu, click on the race4charity link and search for either Lauren or Lisa’s name to donate.
