Two bodies were found hanging from trees in two separate incidents in the Toti area in the last week.
“On Saturday, 29 March at about 3pm, the body of a 30-year-old man was found hanging from a tree on Kynoch Road,” said Captain Thulani Zwane of the police KZN media centre.
No foul play is suspected at this stage. Amanzimtoti police are investigating an inquest and circumstances around the incident.
In a separate incident, the partially decomposed body of a man was found on Thursday, 27 March by a member of the community at about 2.30pm at the corner of Avenue East and the N2, near Prospecton. “The deceased, about 28-years-old, was found hanging from a tree with a blue string tied around his neck,” said Capt Ragavan.
“He was wearing a blue uniform belonging to the security company PT Alarms.” A circulation of a missing person was reported to a local isiZulu newspaper about three weeks ago and it fits the description of the deceased, as he was last seen wearing a blue PT Alarms T-shirt. The management of PT Alarms confirmed the deceased was an employee and he had not been at work for some time.
“The police are investigating an inquest at this stage. There were no open wounds on the body. We appeal to anyone with any information to contact the investigating officer, D/Cst Mdletshe on 084-058-1104,” said Capt Ragavan.
