Toti sisters shine in modelling spotlight

Upcoming models head to New York for competition.

TWO Toti sisters and upcoming models will be jetting off to New York in July to participate in an international competition.

Kuswag Skool pupils, Elibie (8) and Elrika (7) Uitenweerde participated in the national round of Talent Africa in Roodepoort at the end of March, where they walked away with a number of medals between them.

Elibie won five gold medals for modelling in the casual, spokes, formal, runway and photogenic categories.

Keeping close to her sibling in the medal stakes, Elrika received three gold medals, also for modelling in the casual, spokes and photogenic categories. She also scooped two silver medals in the formal and runway categories in the six to nine-year-old age group.

At nationals, they both qualified for the Talent America team to go to New York in July to participate in the same modelling categories.

“They enjoy it, as it is their fourth year modeling. They also participated in the Little Miss SA pageant for two years, which was a great experience for them,” said Abie Uitenweerde.

The sisters have participated in other competitions. In Rainbow Nation, Elibie was awarded Miss Photogenic and in Miss Avondrus, she walked off with the Miss Avondrus title in the six to eight year age group. Not to be outdone, Elrika won the first princess title, also in the six to eight year category.

“The girls enjoy sport such as netball and hockey, but most of all they like the spotlight on stage and to dress up.”
