Cyclist injured after collision with boat

The incident happened during a training session.

A CYCLIST sustained serious injuries in an accident on the R102, near Umkomaas at about 9.17am on Tuesday, 29 April.

“Reports indicate the cyclist was training for a race and was travelling along the R102 towards Umkomaas when his bike collided with a boat that was being towed along the same route,” said Chris Botha of Netcare 911.

Paramedics found the man lying on the ground with serious injuries. After he was stabilised and skilfully immobilised on a trauma board, he was transported to hospital under the constant care of an advanced life support paramedic.

The cause of the accident is being investigated by police.
