Pupils perfect their pizza-making skills

Local pizzeria hosted a Whizzkid Week.

SOME 140 pupils of Amanzimtoti Primary School and Warner Beach Preparatory learnt the art of pizza-making at a local pizzeria last week.

With South Africa focused on celebrating Youth Month, Scooters Pizza Amanzimtoti joined in the fun by hosting an annual WhizzKid Week from 16 to 21 June, proving that making pizza really is child’s play.

“It is part of the company’s ongoing commitment to sharing our pizza passion, educating and uplifting children in our franchisees’ local communities,” said Scooters marketing manager, Sean Lilley.

The children learnt the history of pizza, before they were taken on a working tour of the backstage areas of the store. They also learnt about hygiene and cleanliness involved in food storage and preparation, the nutritional benefits of using only the freshest ingredients and filtered water.

After the tour, the children made their own delicious pizzas under staff supervision. They were also given branded pencils, aprons and Whizzkid certificates certifying them

as chefs for the day.
