Afriforum wants to establish Toti branch

AfriForum protects the rights of minorities.

AfriForum wants to establish a branch in Toti to tackle safety issues, poor service delivery, municipal mismanagement and environmental affairs.

A local branch will allow the community access to legal representation and specialists in the field of local government affairs.

AfriForum is a non-governmental organisation, registered as a non-profit company, with the aim of protecting the rights of minorities.

“The new branch in Amanzimtoti will give the community a platform to make their voices heard outside party politics and to ensure that their civil and community rights are respected,” said provincial co-ordinator for AfriForum in KZN, Chris Fourie.

“Unfortunately AfriForum cannot be present in every town to ensure that people’s rights are not violated. The way to accomplish this is to establish branches where local residents are trained and empowered to bring about real change in their communities. Branches provide community leaders with the opportunity to keep local governments accountable.”

AfriForum appeals to the community of Amanzimtoti to join the organisation, so that a branch can be established.

“As soon as we have 50 local members, AfriForum can establish a branch,” said Chris.

SMS ‘Amanzimtoti’ to 45267 at a cost of R1 per SMS to join.
