Enviro reminders from Wessa

World Rhino Day is celebrated on Monday, 22 September.

THE Upper South Coast Branch of Wildlife and Environment Society of SA (Wessa) remind residents of Toti and the surrounding areas of the following special days in September:

Arbor Month, during which time we are encouraged to plant and maintain indigenous trees throughout SA.

Then from 15 until 20 September it is National Clean-up Week, an opportunity to make a difference to the local environment. Besides ensuring your verge is litter-free, take a look at the area surrounding your home, business premises, school or church and make arrangements with neighbours and colleagues to do your bit.

Recycling Day falls on Friday, 19 September and International Coastal Clean-up on Saturday, 20 September. Join one of the groups taking part in cleaning the oastline.

Lastly, World Rhino Day is celebrated on Monday, 22 September. Educate yourselves regarding reputable organisations striving to eradicate the slaughter of these animals and consider contributing to them. Also remember, elephants are suffering the same fate.
