Conservancy co-ordinates successful beach clean-up

The clean-up was extended from the beach to the promenade and Toti Lagoon.

Toti Conservancy co-ordinated a successful beach clean-up on 20 and 21 September.

The clean-up was extended from the beach to the promenade and Toti Lagoon, and to streets and parks.

With Angus Pyke of Toti Conservancy co-ordinating the effort for the Toti area, there was excellent co-operation from Lions, Amanzimtoti Golf Club, Warnadoone Ski-Boat Club, a few schools, Scouts and Cubs (both Umbogintwini and 1st Toti), the Army Saints and the public.

“We do not have accurate information on all bags filled, but this must have been at least 350 – 400 in total,” said the conservancy’s Corinne Winson. ” Thanks to Oscar of DSW, who has been assisting with collecting the bags.”

Toti Cubs and their supporters worked with Corinne and were rewarded with gifts of pencils from Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife and various sponsors in gratitude.

“We trust that the awareness raised will continue to pay dividends with a cleaner environment, especially among the younger generation,” said Corinne.
