AWA supports Thursdays in Black campaign

Campaign buttons are available from St Wins Methodist Church.

THE Afternoon Women’s Auxillary (AWA) at St Winifreds Methodist Church in Warner Beach has joined the Thursdays in Black campaign.

The organisation launched the campaign at the annual women`s auxiliary service in September, which also saw the women dress-up in black at a follow-up meeting.

“This campaign was started in South America some years ago in order to stand in solidarity with women who have experienced rape, abuse, sexual harassment and domestic violence. The idea is that all participants commit to wearing black on Thursdays and to wear a button to promote the campaign,”said AWA PRO, Veronica Irons.

Buttons are available from St Wins for anyone wishing to join in, in promoting awareness campaign.
