Golfers fail to find form at inter club
Last Wednesday 40 players competed for the meat in the IPS competition, with Dave van Rensburg leading the pack with a solid 39 points, followed by Mr Consistency, Bobby Milne, on 38 points.

THE Amanzimtoti Golf Club senior ‘frog’ team of Ronnie Nair, Barry Buckland and Tommy McNaughton travelled to Margate to compete in the KZNGU inter club, but they weren’t all on top form and failed to make it through to the play-offs on Sunday.
Bad luck guys, better luck next year.
Last Wednesday 40 players competed for the meat in the IPS competition, with Dave van Rensburg leading the pack with a solid 39 points, followed by Mr Consistency, Bobby Milne, on 38 points. Pat Vickers beat T van Niekerk by way of a count out to take third place on 37 points.
The Friday sundowner nine hole competition also boasted a fine field of 40 players, and Johan Roux took top honours with an astonishing 27 points, followed by Ian Bender, Sheldon Grant and Pat Fowler, all on 20 points.
On Saturday the women played a 4BBB medal format, and were blessed with a great field of 19 players. First prize went to the team of Charmain Stone and Gill Symons with a wonderful 61 nett, second was Jackie Dunlop and Sue Conlan on 66 nett, and Lass Davis and Colleen Smit finished third on 70 nett. The nearest the pin was won by Liz Donald on the seventh hole, and Lass had a two-club on the fourth.
The men played 4BBB bonus bogey, and Servaas van Niekerk and Wik van Wyk won the main prize with +11, followed by Clive Fryer and Rob Stone on +10, beating Nico Vogel and Janco Vogel into third place on a count out. The two nearest the pins on the seventh and 17th went to John van der Spuy and Rob Stone respectively, and as the jackpot was not won, it carries over to next week.
The women held their AGM last weekend and the committee for the year ahead is mostly unchanged. Jacqui Porrill retains control as women captain with Lass Davis as her vice-captain. The treasurer’s duties will fall on new committee member Jackie Dunlop, the handicapper is Ina de Boer, Cheryl Flutter carries on as secretary and Sue Conlan has come on board as an additional member. Both Brenda Morgan and Sue Daniels stepped down from the committee, and they were thanked for their valuable input over the years.
On the subject of AGMs, the main club meeting is scheduled for later this month, and the nomination lists are on the board, so members are urged to contemplate whom they wish to have at the helm next year, and nominate accordingly.
Amanzimtoti GC welcomes all visitors to come and play a round of golf on its beautiful course. Call the pro shop on 031-9024144 to book a tee off time.
