TOTI police arrested a man on Monday, 11 November for allegedly stealing a gun in Winklespruit on Sunday, 9 November.
According to Toti SAPS communications officer, Capt Charlene van der Spuy, a case of theft of firearm was registered and investigated by Toti detectives.
Crime prevention unit members received information on the alleged thief and that the gun had been sold to a drug dealer in Umgababa. On following-up on information received, they recovered the firearm, but the man fled.
On 11 November, police received information on his whereabouts and he was traced and arrested. He was charged with theft of a firearm and will appear in Amanzimtoti Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, 13 November.
