Help clothe charity ‘pop-up store’
Donations can be dropped off at the JAM Clothing store at Arbour Crossing.

Kind-hearted Toti residents have a chance to be a part of Durban’s first charitable pop-up street store on Saturday, 15 November between 9am and noon at 398 Mahatma Gandhi Road.
Durban will be one of a 150 other cities across the world to host the charity initiative. The Street Store, which first started in Cape Town, is a pop-up charity shop for homeless and destitute people. The ‘shop’ requires no rent and no premises. It takes place on the street and ‘shoppers’ don’t need money to make purchases.
The Street Store consists simply of cardboard posters, each hung with clothing items and accessories. All goods are donated and they are free, in an effort to clothe the homeless and destitute.
On site assistants will help ‘shoppers’ select items and their selections are wrapped to go.
The idea is to give back dignity to the many people who feel they have lost it due to their socio-economic situation.
The store is being hosted by Grace Family Church and Grace Aid, in partnership with Imagine Durban, Christ Church and JAM Clothing.
Donations can be dropped off at the JAM Clothing store at Arbour Crossing on Thursday and Friday, 13 and 14 November.
“We are looking for any second-hand clothing and shoes in good condition,” said KZN manager for JAM Clothing, Lloyd Myeza. The store hours are from 9am to 6pm.
Volunteers are needed to assist at The Street Store. For more information, visit www.thestreetstore.org.
