Long wait for NPO certificate over

The organisation waited for more than a year for the certificate.

ANIMAL welfare organisation, 4 Paws and a Tale Rescue recently received its NPO certificate from the Department of Social Development, after waiting for over a year.

The organisation’s Jacqueline Smith thanked Kevin Fleiner of Amalgamated Financial Services, for fast-tracking receipt of the certificate. He is a member of Business Network International (BNI), of which 4 Paws and a Tale Rescue is also a member.

“Kevin organised our NPO certificate after we had waited over a year from May 2013 until October. We had confirmation from the department to say we had been granted a NPO licence. They issued an NPO number and told us the certifcate was to follow. As this was in May 2013, it hindered our official fundraising. We also couldn’t apply for a My School card application, as they needed an NPO certificate,” said Jacqueline. The certificate was urgently needed as donors can also apply for tax concessions.

However, with Kevin’s assistance and with him calling the department in Durban, Pietermaritzburg and Pretoria, 4 Paws and a Tale Rescue received its certificate within four days.
