Artists start sketching away

There will be many ideas brought forward at the next meeting and it is in your interests to attend.

THE first meeting of the Upper South Coast Art Association (USCAA) will be held in the activities hall of Amanzimtoti library on Saturday, 17 January at 1.30pm and will continue to 4pm.

The demonstration will be given by Joan Martin, an art teacher at Durban Girls High School and a recognised artist who recently had her own exhibition at KZNSA.

Members are urged to attend.

The meeting will be preceded by the Drawing Session which will be hosted by Ritha Fenske and Joan Ray – which begins at 9am and continues until noon. A small refreshment fee will be charged. Take your own cup. You are required to take your usual set of pencils but a bigger variety with varying degrees of hardness, white good paper, pastels and scrap paper, and the usual items necessary to do a drawing. If you have a table easel, it would help tremendously. Take your own lunch or join the majority who go to the rugby club across the road for lunch and then onward to the main meeting.

The theme this month is open and you are all urged to participate. There will be many ideas brought forward at the next meeting and it is in your interests to attend.

The committee looks forward to seeing members and of course new members and visitors are welcome.

The raffle at the recent USCAA exhibition was won by: Elize De Witt of Athlone ParkĀ  and Alan Jones-Ferndale
