Monthly men’s trips fills Winkle BC greens

ALL competitions are back to normal and Winklespruit Bowling Club had a busy week.
On Wednesday, 7 January, the social bowls was well supported and the club was privileged to welcome an Amanzimtoti visitor, Reverend Roy Govender, who surprised everyone with his bowling skills.
On Thursday, 8 January, the monthly men’s trips was played. All seven greens were filled and the overall winners were Brian Diener, Colon Coetzee and Shaun Sutherland. The second session winners were Steve Evenwel, Jonty Denysen and Harry van Vuuren. The 100 board draw was won by Brian Bodley. The social bowls on Friday, 9 January was enjoyed by everyone. Winkle BC also congratulates Martin and Glen Kay on their wedding.
James Poultney won the attendance draw but unfortunately was not present. On Saturday, 10 January, Dries Snyman, Martin Young and Harry van Vuuren represented Winklespruit Bowling Club at the Port Natal novice championship at Durban Bowling Club. Harry and Dries won their competitions and will be playing the next knock-out game on Saturday, 17 January and Saturday, 24 January respectively. Lynette van Vuuren and Charlotte Kohl will be representing Winklespruit Bowling Club in the Port Natal novice championship on Saturday, 17 January at Durban Bowling Club. The club wishes all the players well in the championship. The monthly Lincoln Steakhouse nominated mixed 2-4-2 was played on Sunday, 11 January. The overall winners were once again the husband and wife team, Mac and Joyce Mackrory. Second session winners were Yvonne Appleby and Harry van Vuuren. The 100 board draw was won by Gladys Yelland.
Members who have not yet paid their 2015 affiliation fees are urged to do so before 24 January. The entries for the 2015 inter-club competitions have now closed. All monies are to be paid before play will commence. Watch the notice board for information. Remember my motto: no pay, no play.
