Sewage pollutes Toti river

A motorist was using the water to wash his vehicle.

SEWAGE was flowing into the Toti River, at River Gardens drift in Riverside Road early this morning, Friday, 16 January.

Les Spence who was driving in the area alerted the Sun to the overflow.
The sewage was spewing out of a manhole into the river. However, this not dissuade a bakkie owner from stopping in the middle of the drift, to use the contaminated water to wash his vehicle.

There was also a strong smell of raw sewage in the air.
Spence contacted municipal officials about the oveflow.
