Sanctuary purrs over revamp – needs cat food

The organisation's Linda Weldon-Church is elated at the changes.

AFTER several weeks of a marathon revamp at Purr-fect Rescued Cats in Athlone Park, the furry residents of the sanctuary are basking in their new surroundings.

The revamp was initiated by 4 Paws and a Tale Rescue and the Army Saints and other volunteers come on board over several Sundays and some weekdays, to give the sanctuary a much-needed facelift.

“I am absolutely elated at the changes. I am proud of my sanctuary, although my cats are well fed, but before the revamp, it looked shabby and I was ashamed of showing people around.” said Linda Weldon-Church.
The wooden houses for the cats and posts with shelves for their leisure activities have been painted a beautiful shade of aqua. There are changes everywhere, including the garden, cages, sheds and much more.

According to Linda all the painting is not complete, but ongoing.
Through Jacqueline’s intervention, BNI member Ant Thomas of Khumbu Projects, completed electrical work free of charge to the value of R1,000. “I initially asked him to give me a quote, but in the end he did it all for free.

He removed wiring hanging outside and installed new lights on Sunday, 15 February,” said Jacqueline.
Linda appeals for donations of cat food. If anyone is able to help, contact her on 072-752-0324.
