A spate of armed robberies occurred in Toti in the last week.
At Afsaal flats in Beach Road on Thursday, 30 April, a woman was returning from her tea break at about 9am when she confronted an unknown armed man inside the office.
“He demanded she open the safe inside the office,” said Toti SAPS communication officer, Captain Charlene van der Spuy.
Simultaneously, the manager was held at gunpoint by another suspect.
R80,000 was taken from the manager’s office, R400 from the complainant, cellphone and
car keys was taken.
The Shell garage on Oppenheimer Road was robbed in the early hours of Friday, 1 May.
A tiller and petrol attendant were held at gunpoint by three gunmen at about 2.30am.
The men fled with R2,500 in cash and about R1,000 worth of cigarettes.
A man returning from withdrawing R9,000 at Absa Bank was waiting to take a taxi back to Isipingo on the N2 onramp, when a white Opel Corsa with three occupants stopped next to him.
One occupant produced a police appointment card and demanded he get into the vehicle.
They drove to Dickens Road and robbed him of the money he had withdrawn.
