Arrest smacks of smoke and mirrors

I would also like to know where the cigarette stash is now?

EDITOR – I read the article in the South Coast Sun of 13 May which reported the arrest of the illegal cigarette seller with a feeling of disdain and an air of amusement.

Surely we live in times where arresting armed robbers and murderers makes more sense than confiscating cigarettes?

The police are proud of their achievement to which I say, with sarcasm, big deal – cigarettes do not resist arrest. The seller was making a living out of what the state deems as contraband. Yet the same state places far less emphasis on serious crime.

I would also like to know where the cigarette stash is now? Do I dare suggest that it was confiscated so that the so-called authorities can distribute the smokes among themselves.

Sorry boys in blue, make an arrest of considerate value to the community and then maybe we will applaud you.
