We need more communities to help us in the way.

The Community Crime Prevention Organisation (CCPO) is full of praise after its members received assistance from an informal Malagazi community policing forum in apprehending a house robber.

CCPO operations manager, Leon Joone said they were pursuing a robber who had broken into an Everglades Road residence in Athlone Park on Thursday, 4 June, when he disappeared into the Malagazi area.

“Every day we chase suspects into the informal areas,” said Leon.

“The locals assisted us to track the robber and with assistance from Toti SAPS, the suspect was arrested.

The residents are also gatvol and want these criminals out of the area.

Whenever we chase suspects into these areas, we always get assistance from the residents and we are grateful for their help,” said Leon. “We need more communities to help us in the way.”
