More Toti donors needed for Santa Shoebox cause

Visit the website and pledge your support.

SOME 181 Toti residents have so far pledged their support for the annual Santa Shoebox Project, which aims to give a gift to a child in need during the festive season.

“In total, we need 581 people in Toti to pledge to the cause,” said local co-ordinator, Liana Erlank.

Visit www.santashoebox.org.za to get involved in the project, which is themed ‘giving for good’.

Gift boxes have to be filled according to guidelines provided on the website and include some practical necessities such as toothpaste and toothbrush, face cloth and soap, sweets, educational supplies, a toy and an item of clothing.

Extra items are also needed for boxes with missing items, after they have been dropped off. A box has been placed at the reception desk at the Sun office, 33 Main Road, Doonside for this purpose. The public is encouraged to bring in items. The office is open between 8am and 4.30pm weekdays.

The Toti drop-off zone is the 1st Amanzimtoti Scouts, 4 Drake Road on Thursday and Friday, 29 and 30 October from 8am to 4pm and Saturday, 31 October from 9am to 2pm.

If anyone would like to volunteer or donate, visit www.santashoebox.org.za or contact Liana on 082-612-7772 for more information.
