Man (23) arrested for heroin possession in Isipingo

One of two drug arrests made on Friday night, 2 October

The Durban Flying Squad narcotics team arrested a 23-year-old man in Isipingo for possession of drugs on Friday night, 2 October.

He was found in possession of 34 straws of heroin at Alexandra Road, Isipingo and was detained at Isipingo police station. The estimated street value of the seized drugs is R1,190. Police also seized R560 in cash which is believed to be from the proceeds of drug trade.

He will appear in Durban Magistrates Court on Monday, 5 October.

In a separate incident on Friday, an operation by the Durban Flying Squad narcotics team netted a 34-year-old man at an apartment in Smith Street, Durban. Police recovered one kilogram of hydroponic dagga, 119 grams of methacathanone and 18 grams of crystal meth in his possession. The estimated street value of the seized drugs is R120,000. He was arrested and detained at Point police station. He will be charged for possession of drugs in Durban Magistrates Court on Monday, 5 October.

KZN police commissioner, Lt Gen Mmamonnye Ngobeni applauded the members on successfully making good on their directive by recovering drugs and arresting the suspects. “These operations will continue to keep our country drug-free which will assist us in securing a better future for our youth. We once again applaud those communities that keep us informed of drug dealing in their suburbs,” she said.
