Yes, the Galleria is shiny and busy - but to the detriment of what once was a clean and vibrant town centre.

EDITOR – During the New Year, while camping near Richmond, I got talking to a family who ‘had visited Toti’.

The silence that followed seemed to indicate they would not visit again. I felt the need to apologise for the current condition of the CBD in particular. A look around when I collected my post yesterday from the central post office confirmed my thoughts.

Litter, vagrants, weeds, broken pavements, empty and dilapidated buildings – summed up in one word – neglect.

One of the Intercity buses drops off passengers next to the post office on a regular basis from around the country – what must these visitors think?
