Teen scholar survives being hit by train

It is believed the boy was on his way to school when the accident happened.

A 15-year-old school boy sustained serious injuries and is lucky to be alive after being hit by a train in Umkomaas on Monday morning, 10 April.

According to KZN Emergency Services media liaison, Robert McKenzie, it is believed the boy was on his way to school when the accident happened.

KZN Emergency Services attended to a 14-year-old girl who sustained moderate injuries after she was hit by a train in KwaMashu, also on Monday morning, as well as a man who was hit by a train in the Nhlungwane area near Ulundi on Sunday night.

“We caution people to use their full attention when crossing railway lines,” said McKenzie. “If you have to cross, check both ways first before crossing.”
