PRO bids farewell to Toti SPCA

This is the first time I'm visiting the UK.

Amanzimtoti SPCA bids farewell to its public relations officer, Michelle Hannan, who leaves for the UK next month.

“I will run my mom’s translation business for the month and then leave for the UK at the end of May,” said Michelle, who has been at the SPCA for two years.

“I’m not sure if I will stay there, I will see how it goes. I want to travel. The more I travel, the sooner I will return to South Africa.

If I manage to get a good job, I will stay. This is the first time I’m visiting the UK. I would also like to see Austria, Germany, Switzerland, France, Italy and Czech Republic.”

Michelle was born in Durban, but has lived in Illovo Beach since the age of two. She did her schooling at Warner Beach Prep and Amanzimtoti High School.

“I will miss working at the SPCA as it is a good cause,” she said. “It’s not everyone who can say they are doing what they are passionate about. I was doing it for the animals and for the people who come together to fight for the same cause.

I will miss the passionate and caring staff members. I wish the SPCA the best and I hope the Toti community continues to support it. There are so many animals that need to be taken care of and sterilised. If people need a new pet, contact the SPCA as the animals there deserve a good home.”

Manager of Toti SPCA, Tracey Girling was understandably upset to say goodbye to such a hard worker as Michelle. “We will miss her very much,” she said. “She has been awesome to have on our team and she leaves big boots to fill. We wish her the best in her new venture.”
