Magic market day for 21 Club’s Mothers May

Those who cannot resist a bargain were spoilt for choice

PRETTY pink flowers and butterflies celebrated moms at 21 Club’s May luncheon.

Instead of a speaker or entertainment, the members were treated to an exciting array of shopping opportunities.

From clothing, pickles and jams, beaded watches and cutlery to favourite beauty products and gorgeous hand-made goodies and cards, those who cannot resist a bargain were spoilt for choice.

4 Paws and a Tale had a table too, and Jacqueline Smith sent a special thank you to 21 Club for the opportunity to raise funds for this worthy cause.

Thanks to Norma Stapelberg of Creative Images for donating three vouchers for a lucky draw.

Carol Mc Phail generously donated a beautiful Honey bag which is being raffled. Thank you, Carol. In addition, each of the stall holders donated an item to form a hamper which will also be raffled. Both raffles will be drawn at the next luncheon. All proceeds will go to Toti charities nominated by the 21 Club members.

The delicious lunch cannot be overlooked. Chicken schnitzels, a 21 Club favourite, were followed by a specially requested ‘pink pud’ to match the decor. Greg of Lords and Legends obliged with a decadent strawberry cheesecake and cream.

After the resignation of Barbara Dowds who is finding the travelling difficult since relocating, Linda Coertzen was welcomed as a new member. Membership stands at 90 and there is a waiting list of 15.

The next luncheon will be held on Wednesday, 22 June at Lords and Legends conference room at noon for 12.30pm. Guest speaker is Wendy Forse who will speak on the controversial practise of ‘fracking’. The theme is ‘Autumn in Africa’, so arrive in Autumn colours and/or animal prints. Members are reminded that confirmation of intention to attend or not and names of guests must be received by any of the committee members by Friday, 17 June. Guests must be invited by a member.
