Doreen’s team wins PN plate again

AMANZIMTOTI Bowling Club was delighted to congratulate Doreen Salmond, Marion Crouch, Nita Meumann and Adrienne Robbins, with substitutes, Jackie Holdrick and Julie Sutherland last week.
They won the plate section of the PN women’s mid-week league for the second time, with a very close finish which had to go to an extra end as they were all square at the end of the game. Well done, and the club hopes to see them repeat the performance next year.
The winners of the men’s trips were Ian Crouch, Lofty van Tonder and Boet Els. Runners-up were Doug Walton, Keith Berry and Guelfo Cobianchi, with second session won by Les John, Ken Baker and Ken Leech.
In men’s mutton, the winning team was Coy Schrauwen, Ray Robinson, Barry Buckland and Gustav Somers. Runners-up were Duncan Wright, Doug Walton, Trevor Zulch and Neil Wiggil. Second session went to Clive Frank, Terry Morgan, Guelfo Cobianchi and Bobby Henderson.
The women’s mutton was won by Doreen Salmond, Leigh Callaghan and Adrienne Robbins and in second place were Barbara Beamson, Jeannette Els, Jacqui Fouché and Linda McGregor. Second session went to Delysia Mitchley, Lynn Joubert and Dot Liebetrau.

The closing dates for entry for the women’s nominated pairs and handicaps will be going up this week, so make sure your name is in on time.
At TGIF the 100 board was won by Gladys Hughes. Ken Crowe’s name came out in the attendance draw however, as he wasn’t there the pot rises to R400 this week. Dave McMillan got last week’s chance to try the key game, but he had no luck finding the key, so that pot will rise to R82,20 this week.
Tomorrow, Friday, 10 June sees the start of the new mixed scroungers in its now permanent slot of the second Friday afternoon of the month. Wednesday, 15 June is the usual quiz night with quiz-master Greg and assistant Gwyn McLeod.
The men’s 2-4-2 will move from its usual slot on the third Thursday to the following week (Thursday, 23 June) for this month only because of the public holiday on 16 June.
Jack-attack will also return to the greens under floodlights on Wednesday, 22 June. Those who couldn’t get a game this month will be prioritised for next month, so put your name down as a reserve. Those who have a game should confirm attendance to make it easier for the organisers to get everyone off to a prompt 6pm start.
Birthday greetings this week go to Gaythri Ramklass, Ken Leech, Greg McLeod, Maureen Griffin and Ken Baker. Finally get well wishes go to all members who are sick or in hospital, especially Babs Swart who is having a hip replacement and Marion Crouch.
