AWI collects warm clothes for charity

Amanzimtoti Women’s Institute meets in the library activities room on the second Tuesday of the month at 9.15am.

AT the Amanzimtoti Women’s Institute general meeting held on Tuesday, 14 June, president Yvonne Dixie opened the meeting and welcomed all members with a special welcome to visitors Janet Jackman and Carolyn Borchard, who are past WI members.

Yvonne reported on members who were ill – Bessie Wessels who had a heart attack and is improving; Janet Francois’ mom Pat Brittain who had a hip replacement and Corinne Stephenson who had a fall which resulted in her needing a hip replacement.

To lighten up the meeting, Yvonne read out a humorous snippet about living with 21st century technology.

Birthday and anniversary greeting cards were then given to all members who will celebrate their birthday or anniversary this month. Joyce Bush advised that she has settled down well at Evelyn House in Richmond. She sends her love to all at AWI.

Thanks were extended to everyone for donations of tea bags for Toti Cares, and AWI would be very grateful if members could donate old warm clothes at the July meeting. Norma Veldtman once again gave a quiz to test everyone’s knowledge, which everyone enjoyed.

For the drama item this month, AWI was once again treated to a comical sketch by Patricia McCann and Loretta Holz, after which everyone joined in a hearty sing along ‘You are my Sunshine’.

AWI thanks guest speaker this month, Corinne Winson for her wonderful, useful information and tips on book binding. It was most interesting and enjoyed by all.
