Keely delights 21 Club

Keely is wished all the best for her Gold Reef City adventure in December.

COLOURFUL butterflies and flowers greeted members of 21 Club at their September Spring luncheon.

The pretty outfits, many enhanced with butterflies, as well as the ‘Spring chicken’ served by Lords and Legends, screamed Spring.

The weather, alas, did not play along and this year hats were not the flavour of the day.

Nevertheless, special entertainer, 14-year-old Keely Crocker, delighted her audience. She displayed amazing versatility in singing a variety of songs suitable for the occasion and the age range present. ‘What a Wonderful World’ was a great starter and The Beatles and Elvis numbers were definitely a hit.

This successful young woman’s achievements here and in New York are well known. She has written and recorded songs and been a part of a road show for drug awareness and has sung for charities like Reach for a Dream and the KZN Kidney Association.

While Keely has had to cope with health issues at a young age, she looks great and has a mature, positive outlook on life. Her motto is: ‘Medicine heals the body, but music heals the soul’ and her advice to youngsters: ‘Follow your dream no matter what the challenges’.

Members are invited to take items for a Christmas hamper that will be raffled for a charity of Keely’s choice. The 21 Club extends sincere condolences to vice president, Lyn Sutherland, on the loss of her husband, Rob.

The next luncheon will be held on Wednesday, 26 October. It will kick off with the AGM at 11.30am for noon in the Lords and Legends conference room. This will be followed by the luncheon and a guest speaker from the Sharks Board. The dress code will be shades of the sea – any blue will do.

Members are reminded that confirmation of intention to attend or not, and names of guests, must be received by any committee member by Friday, 21 October. Unfortunately, guests can only be accommodated if there is room and they must be invited by a member.
