Another foreign diver dies off Umkomaas

A 54-year-old man from Spain, who was diving in the ocean off Umkomaas, allegedly started to panic.

Another foreign diver has died at Umkomaas.

Capt Shaik of the Umkomaas SAPS reported that on Saturday, October 21 at about 10.30am a 54-year-old man from Spain, who was diving in the ocean off Umkomaas, allegedly started to panic.

He was assisted and taken out of the water to the shore and found to be unconscious. Netcare 911 was contacted and paramedics attending the scene declared him dead.

An inquest docket has been opened and the matter is under investigation by the Umkomaas police. Any person who may have information that could assist in the investigation is requested to contact the Umkomaas police on 039-973-6100.

This death follows that of a British national who died in a diving related incident off Umkomaas on 4 October.
