TRAFFIC ALERT: Gridlock follows two crashes on N2 at Amanzimtoti CBD

The driver of the bakkie slowed down for something in the road.

Traffic has backed up on the N2 northbound after two crashes took place within minutes of each other at about 11am today (Thursday, 15 February).

A truck apparently rear-ended a bakkie on the southbound carriageway on the Amanzimtoti River bridge.

A Voluntary Emergency Medical Assistance (VEMA) paramedic who attended the scene said the driver of the bakkie appeared to have slowed down for something in the road when the truck rear-ended him. He was slightly injured.

However, on the opposite carriageway in the same vicinity, Durban-bound traffic came to a halt after a taxi collided with the armco barrier. It is unclear whether any of the taxi passengers were injured in the crash.
